Yahoo believes that a third party database, with shared credentials, was the likely source of the compromised email user accounts. This continues to be a trend of bad security and a multitude of issues for Yahoo as was seen in 2013. It is advised for any Yahoo email user to take precautions to secure your email account. Yahoo has been resetting the credentials of affected users by email and SMS if your mobile contact information is on file.
