Microsoft Buys LinkedIn for $26.2 Billion

On June 13, 2016, Microsoft announced that it will acquire LinkedIn for $26.2 billion, or $196 per share. The acquisition aims to integrate LinkedIn’s professional social media network with the Microsoft Office Suite, a combination that will “reinvent productivity and business processes” according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. LinkedIn will retain its brand, as well as its CEO, Jeff Weiner, as it becomes part of the Microsoft world.
