Thousands Still Face Coverage Celays Months After Obamacare Enrollment Deadline

Backlogs and glitches within various Obamacare insurance plan online systems have caused thousands of people to remain without coverage months after the enrollment deadline has passed. As a result, some people needing Obamacare insurance have put off seeking medical treatment or paid out of pocket for certain expenses. For instance, Robert Rolain set up a health plan for his wife Linda Rolain through the state exchange to take effect on March 1. Doctors found a tumor in her during the interim period and surgery was planned. When she was supposed to have the procedure done, they were told that she was not covered and the procedure was pushed back 2 months to May 14. Sadly, Linda Rolain died before May 14th.

Paypal Report Cites Security Fears as Annoyance in Mobile Payments

With regard to ecommerce transactions, concerns over data security remain high. As a result, consumers are resisting making payments via mobile device. Interestingly, Americans feel more secure about sharing financial data online than other countries. A recent poll showed that many people believe mobile payment data and details can be easily stolen. Additionally, the study revealed that consumers experience mobile payments annoyances such as: requiring someone to register on a website that they are only going to use once, adding taxes or hidden charges on the last checkout screen, having to add payment- card details every time they shop, webpages timing out before a transaction is finished, and having to remember passwords as well as PINs.

Global Demographics Play Emerging Role for Manufacturers

Changing demographics will continue to affect employers, including manufacturers. As Senior Economist Cliff Waldman stated. “Population shifts are being felt very much in the present and are having a direct impact on the slow world rebound. Manufacturers must understand how dramatic demographic changes intersect with economic activity, and the resulting reshaping of the business climate in ways that would have been unimaginable just a decade ago.”

Regional differences are revealing. For instance, for the 2010-2015 period, the average population growth in Africa will be an estimated 2.46% compared with 0.81% in the United States and 0.08% in Europe.

For the world as a whole, the 60 and older cohort share is climbing, from 9.2% in 1990 to 11.1% in 2010. Between 1990 and 2010, the share of this cohort in the more developed regions rose from 17.7% to 21.8%.
